Janice Mary Weber passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. Jan was a woman of deep faith, so her passing early Easter Sunday morning was poetic. She was born on December 10, 1937 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Russell and Doris Coon. Jan was the second of four children, with an older sister Patricia, and two younger siblings, Kathleen and Richard.
Jan grew up in La Crosse, graduating from Aquinas High School in 1955. After high school she began working as a bank teller, not knowing that she had started what would become a career in banking. She married Edward Weber and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she had a daughter, Theresa, who sadly lived only a few days. Her next move was to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1960, which was quite an adventure and where daughter Sherlyn (Sheri) was welcomed. In 1967 Jan moved to Yakima, Washington where son Daniel (Dan) joined the family in 1970. Jan was a dedicated mother, putting huge effort into everything related to raising her children. The house was always filled with crafts and art projects. She even welcomed Dan’s fledgling rock band’s practice sessions.
Jan’s banking career continued in Yakima, where she joined Seattle First National Bank, which became Bank of America. Her job eventually took her to Spokane and later Seattle in the ‘90’s where she found herself working in the Fifth Avenue Building (FAB), a downtown high rise. While in Seattle Jan became involved with the Carmelite Nuns and as a lay person, enjoyed sharing in their prayerful time.
Jan was a dedicated member of Holy Family Catholic Church, volunteering in many capacities, singing in the choir and in her retirement years, becoming a daily mass attendee. In addition, she loved to walk, and not just around the block. Jan became involved in Volkswalking in the 90’s and she was proud to say that she had completed 10k walks in every state in the USA, as well as many countries in Europe.
Jan’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her endless joy. There was nothing she looked forward to more than the opportunity to get down on the floor and play with them.
Jan is survived by her sister Kathleen, brother Rich, daughter Sheri (Mike), son Dan (Kim), as well as her granddaughters Danielle, Rianna, Ella and Anna and great grandkids Avery, Liam and Theo.
The family would like to thank the staffs of both Izzy’s House and Cottage in the Meadow for bringing comfort to Jan’s final days and support to our family.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jan at 11 AM on April 12th in the Chapel of Holy Family Catholic Church, with a reception following at the home of her daughter. To leave a memory for her family please visit lepfuneralhome.com
