Eugene, Fred, Bernell, Leon and one sister, Doris. He was known as Jerry by most, but his family called him Jurrel.
His family moved to California for a short time and then to Yakima where they settled. He worked in the orchards and warehouses in
Yakima and then at Hanford when he was older. His brothers joined the military, but Jeaureld could not join because of an injury to an
eardrum that did not heal properly.
Jeaureld liked to roller skate and spent many evenings at Skate Land in Yakima. There he met Janice Cullen and they were married on
February 14, 1950. They lived in Yakima where his son Terry was born. They moved to Bremerton, Washington in 1951 and Jeaureld was hired at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. They lived in
Bremerton for a short time where daughter Rebecca was born. Around 1975 they moved to Bainbridge Island where son Ed joined the family at age five.
Jeaureld worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a shipfitter and later as a Shipfitter Forman. He received many awards and
recognition for his excellent work. He retired from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard June 29th 1984 and moved back to Yakima. They built a house on two acres of pasture and turned it into a lovey haven for countless church picnics, family reunions, weddings and family
gatherings.
Jeaureld accepted Christ as his personal savior during a family trip to Yakima. He was a faithful witness for Christ with his words and his life. His family attended Bainbridge Bible Chapel and Tieton Drive Bible Chapel when he retired and moved back to Yakima. He was a deacon at Tieton Drive Bible Chapel where he taught Sunday school for about 30 years.
Jeaureld was an excellent builder. He built two houses, many chairs, planters, hanging baskets and bird houses. He was an original
MacGyver fixing things with what he had and could look at
something and know how to build or fix it. Jeaureld loved to fish and was quite successful. His favorite was fishing for steelhead on the Klickitat River, which became a family tradition.
He was a quiet man who did not share his thoughts very often. He showed his love for his family by always being there for them even when they chose poorly. He was well loved and liked by many and will be greatly missed. He lived long and well, and these paragraphs are but a ‘blink’ of what he accomplished during his lifetime.
A visitation for Jeaureld will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 West Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA 98902.
