irreplaceable void in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
Jody was born on November 5th, 1970, to Juanita Owen Beetchenow and Gerald Owen in
Yakima, WA. Jody was born thinking! He loved books and read incessantly. Growing up
alongside five close-in-age siblings in Yakima, he created many cherished memories. He
attended Eisenhower High School and graduated with the class of 1989 before venturing to the
western side of the state where he pursued a career in construction. There, he was able to
discover a passion for boating, owning several boats and even spent a few years living aboard a
cabin cruiser. Each family member has their own stories about going on a boat or jet ski with
Jody. Jody loved hiking, skiing, camping and anything to do with the outdoors. He also loved his
dogs like family.
Jody’s heart held an unwavering love for Europe. He traveled to Europe many times throughout
his life and even lived there for a short time. Jody always lit up when he talked about Europe.
He especially loved traveling to Europe with family and went with many family members
throughout the years. He had spent this last year planning another trip for this Christmas with
seven other family members including his mom.
Jody loved his family, his greatest joy was being with all of them. Though he didn't have children
of his own, he embraced his nieces and nephews as his own, which his siblings all loved. He
was very caring and thoughtful, and had a way of making even the simplest moments seem
magical.
Jody was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Owen, and his nephews Matt Munzanreder II
and Christian Owen. He is survived by his beloved mother, Juanita Beetchenow, his
step-mother Virginia Owen, as well as his best friends and siblings, Kim and Mark Reeves, Ed
and Leslie Owen, Terina and James Needles, Spencer and Mary Owen, and Mike and Christa
Owen, and his nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Jody will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at the Ahtanum Youth Park Barn, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.keithandkeith.com for the Owen family.
