Joel was born on August 14th 1962 to Miguel and Maria Hernandez in Wild Rose, Wisconsin. He is the oldest of 4. The family moved around a lot when he was younger and finally settled in Yakima, WA. He went to Davis high school, while in school he met the love of his life Stella at church in 1979 and they married November 6th 1981 just before Joel went into the Army. After basic training he was stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany where he was a petroleum specialist, he was very proud of his time in the service.
After the service he worked for Snokist Growers for 25 years, first as a sanitation worker then working himself up to sanitation Supervisor until it closed down.
They had two children Joel Jr. and Amanda. Joel loved to be outside, the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Yankees, watching WWE and barbeques with his family and friends. Working in the yard was one of his passions until he passed it down to the grandkids but he would be out there supervising the grandkids to make sure it was done right.
