Monday June 11, 2018, John Earnhart (brother, uncle, husband, stepfather, grandfather, snowbird and killer card player) passed away at the home of his sister, Joan Dupuis, in Apache Junction, Arizona. John was born in Conway, Arkansas July 31, 1929.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Gertie (Shelby) Earnhart, brother Wallace Lynn Earnhart, wife Donna (Hayes-Williams) and niece Sharon Kathleen Bronson. He is survived by his sister Joan DuPuis, nephews Ray (Julie) Ogden and Thomas Ogden and niece Gina Wentz; stepchildren Cheryl (Gary) Worman, Caryn Willimas, Shelley (Jack) Robison, Elton Williams, and Royce Williams; grandchildren Jami Pottratz, Stacey (Luis) Sanchez, Wesley (Sarah) Worman, Justin (Katie) Williams, Dave Carlton, Elton (Hannah) Williams Jr, and Rob Shingledecker; great-grandchildren Anthony (Kaylee) Yesenia, Penni, Aleks, L.J., June, Dylan; and his very dear friend Tony (Melody) Pottratz.
John was a career Air Force Master Sergeant (to many he was “Sarge” or “Mr. John”) and an amazing mechanic or fixer of all things. After retiring from the Air Force, John spent much time fishing on the river in Arkansas until making his way to the Yakima Valley where he met and married Donna Hayes-Williams.
John and Donna had many adventures with their children and grandchildren. Over the last 20 years, John spent most of his time traveling in his motor home between Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, and Washington. He was always ready for a road trip or a game of cards. John would often arrive unexpectedly, rarely stay too long and never got in a hurry. His humor was unique and timeless. John will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
There will be a graveside service at the Naches Cemetery July 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception immediately following at the home of Jami Pottratz (525 Pongala Rd., Tieton, WA). All are welcome to come visit, share stories, grease up on food, and laugh a little or a lot.
