John Morris Myers, born October 4, 1935, passed Tuesday, August 2nd, in Yakima. Growing up on both sides of the state, John worked in logging, ranching, and farming before joining the US Air Force in 1953. He served through Korea and Viet Nam retiring with an honorable discharge in 1974. Following retirement from the USAF he was an Electrical Engineer for Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital where he met his wife, Susan. During his service at YVMH, John pioneered the Bio-medical engineering program. John loved working on electromechanical equipment and after retiring from YVMH, he owned and operated John's Repair Service. In 1976 he bought 20 acres of sagebrush and rock, which he named Rocky Meadows Ranch. In the ensuing 35 years he and Sue created an oasis.
Often viewed as “The original cowboy", John lived a life of honor and courage in all he did. He was the center of a large and loving family who all learned from him to love and respect family, community and country. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Susan and four children Terry (John), Tim, Tonja, and Dawn (Andy); fifteen grandchildren and six great grand-children. He will be missed by all. There will be no formal service. The family is planning to celebrate John's life with a Wake.
