December 26, 1949December 7, 2013

Joseph Nathanael Bensch, 63, of Yakima, Washington, went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2013 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle.

Joseph was born in Soap Lake, Washington on December 26, 1949 to Grace and Herbert Bensch. He began working at an early age, along with his older brother Jonathan. In 1968 Joseph joined the Navy and served his country in Vietnam and the South Pacific from 1968-1972.

Joseph worked at Longview Fibre Company for 40 years. A firm believer in the old adage, “the pen is mightier than the sword”, Joseph spent long hours writing editorials and political essays many of which were featured in the Yakima Herald. An active church member, Joseph dedicated himself to improving the world around him through his charitable giving. He was a loving Father and husband who put the needs of others before himself.

He was preceded in death by his parents Grace Hoy and Herbert Bensch; as well as his brother Jaime.

He is survived by his wife Kyung Sook Bensch, and their children; Soneya, Joseph, Joshua, Jason, and Dowhan; his grandchildren Jayden and Jaymes; his siblings Jonathan, Susanna, Rebekah, Michael, Mary, Steven, Timothy, Andrew, and Mark; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

My condolences to the loved ones Joe left behind. I know he will be missed by many. I remember his visits to my parents when I was younger, he was always delightful and happy. May he Rest In Peace. And may the family he left behind get some solace in the fact that he no longer suffers.

Certainly I offer my condolences in this time of loss. While I did not know Joe well, I have known many of the Bensch family in the past. May God give you comfort during this time and afterwards, - Stan Fox - pastor
