Joseph Daniel (Dan) Connors, was born on August 15, 1950 in Yakima Washington. He passed away on May 15, 2018 at his home in Yakima. Born to Bert and Ester Connors, he lived his early years in Harrah, Washington and attended Harrah Grade School. Upon graduation from Wapato High School in 1968 he attended the University of Washington and graduated in 1972. Dan was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity during his tenure at college. After graduation, Dan traveled through Europe and had many adventures, which included six months in Spain and Portugal.
In the early 1970’s Dan went to work for his uncle Don Skone in Bakersfield, California. His responsibility was accounting and marketing potatoes. He remained there until 1982. Dan then moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where he worked for JC Cheyne company as a fulltime potato marketer. After a couple of years Dan returned to the Yakima Valley to work for Skone & Connors Produce, Inc.
Dan was an avid duck and pheasant hunter and spent many happy hours hunting in the Yakima Valley with his friends. He invested in the stock market on a daily basis, was a passionate sports fan particularly for the Seattle Seahawks and University of Washington football teams and enjoyed playing golf.
Dan loved debating and he was often the provocative storyteller at parties and family gatherings. Although 67 years was not nearly enough time, Dan lived a full life on his terms with no regrets. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Ester Connors. His survivors include his son Joe Connors of Yakima, his brothers Steve Connors (Ann) of Moses Lake, Patrick Connors (Jeanne) of Yakima, and sister KC Kwak (Case) of East Wenatchee and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Gasperetti’s Restaurant in Yakima on June 9, 2018, from 2-5 pm.
