Joyce Grunewald passed away peacefully on January 8, 2017 at her home. She was born on October 1, 1933 in Belknap, MT to Audrey and Theodore Mackey. She lived in Montana until her family relocated to Yakima in the mid 40’s. She married Ken Grunewald on March 15, 1953 and raised four children along with her two younger sisters.
Joyce worked at the phone company and at Highland Fruit from which she retired. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren. She very much looked forward to getting together with her sisters. Everyone loved grandma’s cooking and it wasn’t very often that she lost at a game of scrabble. She was a beautiful woman both inside and out. She always had a smile on her face and never complained about anything. She was the toughest woman any of us had ever known.
She is survived by her husband Kenny or 64 years; daughter Deb Bolt and her sons, Craig (Lacy), Mike (Ashley) and Justin (Shannon); sons, Steve (Lori) and their daughters Ashley and Kaley, and Chris (Cindy) and his son Gunner. She is also survived by Val’s children Casey and Terra, her great grandchildren Mike, Grace, Cora and Isabelle. Her sisters Pam Bott, Judy Brewer and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Val, brothers Arnold, Ronald and Richard Mackey; sisters Kay Myers, Lois Kennedy, Janice Cox and Muriel Weber.
At Joyce’s request there will be no services. Keith and Keith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. To share a memory of Joyce, please visit www.keithandkeith.com
