Born on October 7, 1937, Joyce devoted her life to being a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be profoundly missed yet best remembered for her unwavering kindness and generous spirit. A quiet philanthropist, she not only supported many charities but also poured her love into every stitch of the handmade baby blankets she donated to the YWCA.
Joyce was very proud of all of the mommas and babies that she helped in her 30+ years as an OB nurse.
Joyce found solace in the written word, particularly her beloved Bible. Her days often included the satisfying challenge of word finds and other word puzzles. Her appreciation for the natural world was evident in her love for gardening and her scenic drives, where she admired beautiful flowers and trees. Evenings brought her simple joy, whether she was gazing at the stars or experiencing the dramatic beauty of a thunder and lightning storm.
She is survived by her children, Doug (Debbie) and Jan (Michael); her grandchildren, Austin, Ashlyn, Ellie, Aspen, and Carson; and her ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Jean, Carol (Gary), Ella (Erick), and Francie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Carson David Lowell, and her parents, Alice E. Burke-Perin and Howard Shelton Burke.
A springtime memorial will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor Joyce’s giving nature by donating to the charity of your choosing.
