Joyce Elaine Smith
October 10, 1932 – June 6, 2019
Joyce Smith- Grandma Alaska- 86 years young, passed away peacefully on June 6. Joyce was born October 10, 1932 in Hysham, Montana to Ancil & Beulah Cole.
The family moved to Billings where she graduated high school, and was a big fan of reading, Country & Western Music and became a great cook.
She worked in banking in Nevada but settled in Fairbanks, Alaska for a number of years. She moved to Yakima to live closer to her mother. Mom was the founder of H&H Auction which eventually became H&H Furniture which has been in business for 50 years.
She moved back to Alaska to marry Alton Smith. Together they spent time on many Alaskan adventures, caught way too many fish and traveled the world together. Upon his passing she moved back to Yakima to be closer to her grandchildren and to spend time in her beautiful garden.
Joyce is survived by her sons Mark Peterson of Yakima, Albert Roy of Eugene and her brother Jim Cole of Yakima. Her grandchildren (Mark) Cole, Juliana & Connor. (Albert) Cortney, Morganne & Judah.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

My memories of Joyce are many and cherished. We worked side be side for years together at H & H Furniture. We were neighbors as well as friends. I will miss my friend, as she was a dear friend for 40+ years. I will miss you Joyce.
