She was born January 2, 1925 in Lubbock, TX. Her family moved to Oklahoma where she was raised with her 8 siblings. At age 19 she moved to Yakima, WA where she later met and married Oscar Leon Adams. Together they raised a family of 5 children. They accepted God’s call to ministry and pastored several churches in Yakima and Missouri until his death in 1971. Juanita loved caring for her home and church family.
In 1974 she married Rev. James Layne. Together they pastored New Hope Chapel for 25 years. They served as District Superintendents for the Pentecostal Church of God for 4 years. She loved her work as a women’s ministry leader in many capacities. Whether she was cooking the meals or preaching, she did it all with all her heart.
The Adams/Layne family started as 9 children that Juanita and James loved with all their heart. There were many parties and picnics and camping trips and dinners with lots of laughter and love. These last few months she was surrounded by her children, 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Her Godly advice and love has lead them and she will be greatly missed by them all.
Juanita’s greatest joy in life was serving others and working in the ministry. She shared Jesus wherever she went for 75 years of her life. She truly lived a lifestyle of “what would Jesus do”.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. James Layne, son Rick Adams. She is survived by her sister Helen Prichard, children Joyce Tabor, Donna (Larry) Richardson, Vicki Munson, Peggy (Tony) Drake, Linda (Jerry) Goodman, Jerry (Mary) Layne, Geneva (Duane) Frazier, Jim (Connie) Layne. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. And of course her precious dog Sandy.
We want to thank Highgate Senior Living staff for loving our mom this past year and providing excellent care.
