
Kate was born June 6, 1932 in Lead Hill, Arkansas to Levy Newton and Joanne (Riggs) Justus. Kate married Bert Dixon on February 14, 1948 in Lead Hill, and the couple moved to Cowiche in 1949. She worked for Strand Apples in Cowiche for 54 years. She had a good work ethic and her work at Strands was important to her and enjoyable. She was an active member of the Highland Saddle Club since 1960. Kate enjoyed fishing, camping, and attending all events in which her grandchildren were participating.
Kate was a member of the Bethel Community Church. Kate was very accepting of people and welcomed all she came to know into her home. She was a very generous and loving person.
Survivors include her son, Ron Dixon and his wife Marcia of The Nile; three grandchildren, Rob Dixon and his wife Michelle of Yakima, Stephanie Paulson and her husband Jesse of Seattle, and Amber Burroughs and her husband Jeff of Kennewick; eight great grandchildren, Ryan, Hunter and Tana Dixon, Kevin, Keith and Jessyca Burroughs, Jace and Trey Paulson; 4 great great grandchildren; a brother, J. N. Justus of Lead Hill and a sister, Velma Dean Rogers of Slater, Missouri.
Kate was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Burial will follow at West Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or charity of choice.
