

Kathryn Lee Hoon, 57, of Yakima, died December 30, 2014 of Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Kathi was born June 29, 1957 at Mountain Home Airforce Base, Idaho to then Lt. Donald Lyle and Gretchen Lee (Fouche) McHugo. She was later adopted and raised by Clifford Waterman Myron.
Kathi attended schools in Spokane, Yakima, and graduated from Toppenish High School in 1975. In 1979, she graduated from Eastern Washington University with a BA degree in History. While at Eastern she was a member of the Young Republicans and Chi Omega Sorority.
She was married to Wallis E. Cole from 1979-2001. Three children were born to this union: Allison, Tyler, and Lindsay. In 2003 Kathi married Guy R. Hoon, whom she had dated in high school and her freshman year at EWU. This relationship brought much laughter and love to her life.
Kathi enjoyed genealogy and researching family history. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed time in her rose garden, and fishing with Guy. Kathi enjoyed contributing to the Top-Hi Alumni website in her role as co-administrator. Many special memories were made at the Myron family cabin on Camano Island and the annual long weekend to Lincoln City, OR. Her favorite times were those spent with family and friends.
During her lifetime, Kathi held a variety of positions: sales representative for L’Eggs, office manager for a cable TV office, teacher’s aide, childcare provider, church secretary, accounting assistant and most recently, she spent 9 ½ years working for Seneca Foods Corporation in the accounting and customer service departments. When her children were younger she was very active in her church, teaching or directing Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, AWANA and other children/youth programs. More recently, she was a member of Terrace Heights Community Presbyterian Church, singing on the Sunday Worship Team and serving as an Elder and Clerk of Session until her health restricted her.
Kathi is survived by: her husband, Guy Hoon of Yakima, WA; her 3 children and their families: Allison and Nick Knoll and their sons Bentley and Carter Knoll of Coeur d’Alene, ID; Tyler Cole and Jenny Fredriksen of Bellingham, WA, and Lindsay and Laszlo Suto of Coeur d’Alene, ID. Kathi is also survived by her 4 brothers and their families: Kurt Myron and Sue Wilson of Boise, ID; Derek and Suzanne Myron—Cole Seegert, Jake and Carter Myron of Solano Beach, CA; Cory Myron and Tammi Boutchyard –Darian, Paityn and Terren Myron of Everett, WA; Brett and Christine Myron and their son Andrew of Boise, ID; and her mother: Gretchen Kuch of Spokane, WA.
Kathi is preceded in death by her birth father who was killed in Vietnam, her adoptive father, and all grandparents.
She always felt that life was measured in ‘quality of years’ not ‘quantity of years.’
