Katie Jean Miller

She attended Selah Schools all 12 yrs, graduating in 2006. She didn’t always like the academic side of school, but she loved her friends and all the shenanigans they would get into. Katie was on the Selah HS dance team for 2 years. She formed wonderful friendships and loved being part of the team. After graduation she went to Cosmetology school and began her career as a beautician, which she absolutely loved. In 2015 she married Travis Fiscus, and together they had three beautiful boys. Taylor, Kaysen, and Kameron. These boys were everything to Katie. They brought her great joy and pride. Getting those three boys together is like a WWE match, but Katie could handle it. She nurtured their soft side, their sensitivity, their vulnerability. She wanted them to know they could talk to her about anything. Katie had a great sense of humor. She always had a great comeback and a quick wit. Though small in stature at a mere 4’11, she was mighty in personality. She brought so much love, laughter, and kindness into everything she did. Katie had an amazing ability to make friends everywhere she went. She wanted to help others and be there for them even if she was the one needing help. You couldn’t meet Katie and not love her. As much love and joy that Katie had for life, she also had extreme challenges. Over the years she battled with alcohol addiction, but it was a fight she was determined to win. She never gave up on herself. If she fell, she would get back up and put in the work. She wanted nothing more than to be the best mom to her beloved boys. Katie met a lot of people on this journey and made many friends in the clean & sober community. They showed her love, support, and acceptance. Even when she didn’t love or accept herself. Katie was not very athletic, but she loved being involved with their softball team, doing whatever she could to help out.

She also loved spending time with her niece Ava (or “Ava Jean beauty queen” as Katie would call her) and her nephew Drew (“Jujubee and bonbons" as Katie would say). She always had a silly nickname for everyone. And they loved their auntie very much.

One of Katie’s favorite things was going to Seaside & Cannon Beach Oregon every year with her Grandma Gayle & Grandpa Ray, and the whole Miller family.

A tradition that she would carry on with her boys so that they could spend precious time with their grandpa Bob & Grandma Lori. Just 2 weeks before her tragic death, Katie and the boys got to spend what would be her last trip to the beach to see her dad and Lori. It was a blessing that they had that time together.

When Katie was young, she would say she didn’t like being an only child. Well that all changed after her parents divorced and eventually each remarried. Not only did she now have 4 parents that she loved, but she ended up having 2 sisters, Emily Forenpohar & Alyssa Owen and 5 brothers, Simon, Sam, Josh, Noah & Ben. She loved having so many siblings!

Just 2 days before her passing, Katie celebrated her sister Emily’s upcoming wedding with friends and family. We would have never imagined that would be our last celebration with her.

Katie is now in the loving arms of her two favorite women in the world: her grandma Shirley (Westbay) and her grandma Gayle (Miller). Please take care of our girl.

Katie will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her parents Laura & Bruce Forenpohar, Bob & Lori Miller. Her 3 boys Taylor, Kaysen and Kameron Fiscus and their father Travis Fiscus. 2 sisters Emily Forenpohar (Angel) and Alyssa Owen. 5 brothers Josh (Robby), Noah, Ben, Sam and Simon. Her mother-in-law Robin Fiscus, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is proceeded in death by her grandparents Ray and Gayle Miller, Bill and Shirley Westbay. Her uncles David (& Tina) Miller, David Westbay and her father-in-law Dan Fiscus.

A Memorial Service for Katie will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 1:00pm at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W Yakima Ave, Yakima WA 98902.

A reception will follow the service at Selah Civic Center, 216 S 1st St, Selah, WA 98942.
