Kristin was born and raised on the Yakama reservation, often spending time with her loved ones among the roots and refuge of Mt. Adams. She welcomed and raised a wildly beautiful and kind daughter, Sierra – The Rory to Kristin’s Lorelai. The two spent 27 beautiful years together, navigating this world through joy-filled moments: traveling to Europe, playing countless board games, and watching every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Kristin built a lifelong career supporting tribes. One of her proudest moments was becoming the youngest Executive Director to ever serve on a Gaming Commission. She spent 14 years supporting the Yakama Nation, in various leadership positions, before relocating to Texas. For the past 9+ years, Kristin dedicated her life to helping the Choctaw Nation thrive. Prior to her death she was honored with the title of Executive Officer of Gaming and Hospitality.
Kristin had many passions, all of which embodied her deep love for people, a reverence for nature, and the awareness of divinity in all that is. She generously gave her time and energy as an active member of the Junior Leagues of Yakima and Collin counties. She founded the F-n-A Hiking Club, where she blended community building and her joy for the outdoors, and she became a Level II Reiki Master to harness her innate gifts and bring healing to others. Kristin is preceded in death by her grandmother, Viola Lumley; grandfather, Baptist Lumley; grandmother Jessie Schaefer; grandfather Ken Schaefer; her best friend and cousin Michelle Porter; her soul-dog Pheobo, and several other relatives and friends that she loved very deeply. Kristin is survived by her parents David and Kathy Lumley; daughter Sierra Karcz-Lumley; fur-daughters Anya and Rowan; grand fur-daughter Smee; sister Shannon Bowden (Denny Bowden, Megan Bowden Fuchs, Morgan Bowden); sister Leslie Shepard (Greg Shepard, Finn Shepard, Sawyer Shepard); sister Lexy Unsicker (John Unsicker, Draven Unsicker, Asher Unsicker, Tru Unsicker, Eden Unsicker); soul-sister Jennifer Bush (Dirk Bush, Richelle Bush, Emily Bush) and countless family members and friends who meant the world to her.
