Yakima, WA - G. Lance Braden peacefully passed away November 14, 2010, surrounded by his family and friends, after his courageous battle with Diabetes.
Lance was born in Casper, WY to Peg and Gary Braden on September 17, 1970 and shortly after, the family relocated to Yakima. Lance attended Wilson Middle School, and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1989. After High School, Lance attended Perry Technical Institute where he completed the Electrical Program.
Lance started his career at the Yakima Family YMCA as a teen, where he worked his way up from camp counselor to Associate Executive Director. During this time, Lance served as the Director for Camp Dudley, where he proudly served the mission of the camp and provided kids with the experience of a lifetime. Lance expanded his career as the Vice President and General Manger of Wrap Pack Corporation before achieving his lifelong dream of entrepreneurship, and purchasing The Glass Door LLC.
Lance married the love of his life and High School sweetheart, Michelle Hafsos on May 30, 1992. Together they raised their two beautiful children, Makenna and Ryan. His children cherish their dad as a coach to every sport and the best cuddler in the world.
Lance is best known for his compassion to others and his community involvement. When Lance wasn’t spending time with his family, he was likely volunteering his talents to the community. It can be said that Lance didn’t know a stranger. He contributed significantly, with both time and money, to the YMCA, United Way, Rotary, Camp Fire, Capital Theatre, New Leaders of Yakima County, 26A, Boy Scouts, Lions and most any other individual or organization in need.
Lance is preceded in death by his father-in-law Jerry Hafsos. He is survived by his wife Michelle and two children Makenna and Ryan, parents Peg and Gary Braden, his Mother-in-law Trish, his Mother-in-law Linda (Doug), brother Adam Braden (Jeanne), sister Traci Udell (Bob), sister-in-law Andrea Mott (Ivan), many nieces and a nephew and many, many friends that consider him family.
Lance left his mark on life in each of us. He showed us how to give effortlessly and share compassion endlessly – this is his legacy. Lance will be greatly missed.
