Lori was born on May 11, 1961 in Sunnyside, Washington to Gregory and Sandra (Taylor) Bolshakoff. She spent her early years in Crescent City and Gatsby, California before settling in Yakima for good in 1987. She attended Toledo High School in Toledo, Washington and Davis High in Yakima. Lori earned her GED and a bookkeeping degree from Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington in 1982. She worked at 40th Avenue Bi-Mart in Yakima in the photo department, and as a pharmacy tech from 1987 to 1994 and was Dr. Ron Warninger’s assistant at Warninger Chiropractic in Yakima from 1994 until her health forced her to retire in 2009. Shortly after moving to Yakima for good in 1987, Lori met and eventually married the love of her life, Rick Kelly.
Lori’s number one joy in life were her grandchildren. She never missed a birthday or school function and was an integral part of their lives. She loved to gossip with them, bake cookies, tell stories, and sing “You are my sunshine.” She never left them without a long hug with her eyes closed and a big smile on her face and a kiss, and always an “I love you,” “I love you more,” “I love you mostest” argument.
Lori really enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Laughlin, Nevada and Maui. She loved the beach, gambling, playing golf, cooking, Grey’s Anatomy, and her Macnaughtons.
She is survived by husband and best friend Rick Kelly; daughter Shanna (Jeff) Ockert; step-daughter: Bridgett (Ron) La Vigne; step-son: Patrick (Lynsey) Kelly; grandchildren: Mariah (Jon) Summers, Jalissa Fredrick, Rikki Gonzales, Logan Halpain, Jeffery Ockert Jr, Tayler Fischlin, Tysen Fischlin, Madisen Gustafson, Mia Kelly, Sadie Kelly, Kellen La Vigne, Shaun La Vigne; great granddaughter: Phoenix Ockert; mom: Sandra Bolshakoff; brothers: Greg (Mary) Bolshakoff, Greg (Tae) Knight; sisters: Debra Folz, Tanjua Bolshakoff; uncle: Butch (Jeanne) Taylor; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dogs, Duke and Abby.
The family wants to say thank you to the Selah Fire Department and the emergency room and ICU staff at Yakima Regional for their excellent care and compassion for Lori and their accommodation of her large, unrelenting family.
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine; you make me happy, when skies are grey; you’ll never know dear, how much I love you… Please don’t take Grandma’s sunshine away.
