Laverne McEntire

January 27, 1938 - July 28, 2026

On Tuesday, July 28th at 2:28 am, Laverne quietly, peacefully, sweetly, slipped from the cares. Of this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The faith she had cherished, lived and proclaimed throughout her life, became sight as she met her Lord, face to face. Born to Homer Dean Brown and Rosemary (Shelton) Brown, 1/27/1938, in Yellville, Ark. On April 10th, 1958, married the love of her life, William McEntire. Married for 65 years they were true partners in marriage and ministry, founded on Christ Jesus, touched countless lives along the way.

Laverne was genuinely kind, her faith did not waiver, her love was sincere, her compassion freely given. Never harsh, never unkind, possessing a gentle strength, quietly influencing those around her, her faith lived out through a lifetime of service to God and others.

Laverne was gifted in countless ways, song writer, vocalist, musician artist, guitar player, teacher, always encouraging others. Transforming simple materials into artwork for Sunday school lessons. oil paintings, beautiful quilts with love, preparing delicious meals from nothing. Most importantly, her heart always engaged in humbly caring for others, never putting herself in the spotlight. A pastor's wife in the truest sense of the Word, serving faithfully beside her husband, supporting the ministry, teaching children, encouraging families, writing the church newsletters, opening her home and investing her life into the kingdom of God and her family.

Laverne, an original, unique combination of experience, faith, determination, creativity, love that could never be duplicated, carrying values, planting them deeply in her family and church she served. The old family tree is shedding it's leaves, deep roots of faith being called home, another treasured branch of the tree, gathered into eternity, her roots remaining strong, passing on to the generations that follow.

Even in the final week of her life, she continued to do what she did best, reminding people to be ready to meet the Lord, pointing the Way to Christ, her message unchanged to the end, "Make sure Your heart is right with God and be ready!"

Now that day has come for her, Laverne has crossed the river and reached Heavens Shore, meeting Jesus face to face, hearing the words, " Well done my good and faithful servant, enter into the Joys of the Lord!"

Laverne is preceded in death by her husband, William McEntire, parents, Homer and Rosemary Brown, sister, Joyce, brother, Dearl, and many beloved relatives and friends gone before her.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Gail Crow and husband Marion, son Terry Gene McEntire and wife Mary Jo, son Cary Bryant McEntire and wife Mary Elizabeth, son Billy Shannon McEntire and wife Bennie, sisters, Linda Zimmerman, Brenda James, a multitude of beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, five living generations. Also extended family members, and dear friends who continue to cherish her memory and carry forward her legacy.

For those left behind, sorrow because we miss her voice, prayers and presence, the faith that carried

her carries us now. Our confidence that we, too, will make that crossing, see Laverne standing on

Heaven's Shore, smiling, waving us onward, reminding us to trust the Lord, keep the faith.

Until then her life remains a testimony to us, her memory remains a blessing, her influence continues to affect and touch lives!

We will miss you Laverne McEntire, but we will meet again, soon on that Heavenly Shore!

Service will be held on August 14th at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home1010 West Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA. 98902

Viewing will be from 10-11 am on August 14th. Service begins at 11 am, followed by the procession to West Hills Cemetery. We invite everyone for refreshments and a luncheon directly after service.

A Memorial Service will also be held on Sunday, August 9th at 5 pm at Hiland Chapel. 261 Hiland Rd, Tieton, WA.
