Lawrence Clifford Clark was born on October 17, 1945, in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. He grew up on a wheat and cattle ranch on the wide-open prairie. Larry was raised alongside his 4 sisters and a brother. That ranch life shaped who he was—hardworking, capable, and always ready to do what needed to be done.
From a young age, Larry learned responsibility. He rode horses, drove tractors, combines and trucks, and even flew planes, as he worked the ranch. Those weren’t just skills to him—they were part of his identity. He carried that work ethic with him everywhere he went.
Larry attended Walla Walla College in Washington, but when his father was injured in an accident, he came home without hesitation to help run the ranch.
He had four children—Michael, Brock, David and Karalee. In 1977, Larry moved the family to grow fruit in Yakima, Washington, as well as dryland wheat in Wasco, Oregon.
Following a divorce Larry re-married to Anita, and added two step-children, Michael and Jennifer to the family. Larry was always very proud of his family.
Larry was a natural entrepreneur. He purchased a single forklift from an asphalt plant to be used on the farm. It was so covered in tar the wheels couldn’t roll, so he and his son worked for hours chipping the tar away. When someone asked if the forklift was available to rent, Larry saw an opportunity.
From that seed, Larry started his successful heavy equipment and trucking business. That was part of who Larry was—able to turn something small into something lasting through vision, intuition, and a lot of hard work.
Over time the family continued to grow, and Larry was blessed with 12 grandchildren: Elle, Julia, Griffin, Judah, Delaney, Caleb, Avalene, Wiley, Collin, Jameson, Tridien, and Edison.
Larry was strong and dependable. He showed his love through action—by working hard, showing up, and providing for the people he loved.
He will be deeply missed. But his legacy lives on—in the work ethic he passed down, the generosity he modeled, and the way he cared for his family.
A memorial service will be held at Restoration Church in Yakima on Saturday, March 14 at 3 pm. Livestream will be available at
