Leonard Landon Adams

November 5, 1936November 1, 2012

Leonard Landon Adams, age 75, was born in Oldfield, Missouri, on November 5, 1936, to his parents Jess and Callie (Loveland) Adams. He went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2012 at his home. Landon moved from Missouri at the age of 14 to Yakima. He remained out here to work in a sawmill at Gilcrest, Oregon; worked as a welder building train box care in Portland, Oregon; worked at FMC Door Factory, Del Montes Cannery, and OIC Weatherizing in Yakima. He also worked at Shannon & Collins Family Orchards. When not working, he dearly loved to fish and hunt. A highlight of his life was when he was able to go to Craig, Alaska to fish with his daughter and her husband. He could always catch a fish when no one else could. Everyone said they thought he could catch a fish out of a mud puddle. Landon joined the Army in August 1962. Right after boot camp, he was shipped to Germany and served two years during the Berlin Crisis. He spent these years in reserves and was honorable discharged on August 31, 1967. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren, relatives, and many friends. He was constantly talking how proud he was of each and every one of them. He is survived by his wife, Eleanore of Yakima; his sister, Jessie Shannon (Ralph) of Yakima; his sons, Jerry Adams (Debbie) and Stanley Adams (Carol) both of Toutle, WA; Earl Dean (Debbie) of Castle Rock, WA, Gary Adams of Vancouver, WA; his daughter, Jeanette Hayden (Chuck) of Craig, AK; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lucille Adams and Louise Johnson; his step mother, Joyce Holt; one daughter, Carrie Adams; one son, Larry Gene Adams; one half-sister Erma and one step brother, Noel Holt. The family of Leonard Landon Adams would like to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Hospice, Dr. Toliver, Howard’s Medical, Total Care, The EMT’s, the Police Dept., Keith & Keith Personnel, family and friends for their kind expressions of sympathy with floral arrangements, food, cards and support during our recent loss. – The Adams & Shannon Family Viewing will be between 4:00 and 8:00 pm Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Keith & Keith Funeral Home. Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish our memories of Landon forever. He was a pleasure to know; always welcoming to family and friends, and always of good spirit and humor. We enjoyed the pictures and stories of hunting and fishing adventures. We also appreciated all the good will and warmth Landon and Lorie have extended to our family. Best wishes to Lorie and all their family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

At age 6 we lived on a ranch in Selah and the love of my life was Elvis Presley. Landon had just finished his military duties and was in his army clothes when he came pulling up our long driveway. As I watched from the bedroom window I realized that my love (Elvis Presley) had come to visit. Breathless I ran into the kitchen to tell mom (Eva Roby) that Elvis was outside talking to dad (Earl Roby). I was so excited I could hardly talk and couldn't wait to get to him when mom gently informed me that man was my cousin Landon. It was a little heart breaking, but after his stay with us I realized he was one of the coolest cousins in the family. We will miss you, but I know you, mom, and dad are visiting on that beautiful shore about all the tricks you used to play on each other and you will always be my Elvis Presley.

In Loving Memory,
Cheryl Heckart.
