

Lee was raised in the Yakima Valley and graduated from West Valley High School. After school he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1966 to 1968. Upon completion of his military service Lee worked in the construction trade for a few years. He went on to start his own carpet installation business and operated it until his retirement. When he was not busy working, he often used his exceptional construction skills to build custom furniture, or remodel a room in the home.
Leroy loved to travel with his wife, Sherry. Together, they would often dance into the night as they ventured around the country. He is remembered for his hilarious sense of humor and kind heart. He was the kind of man that believed if someone was in need, he was there to help, and often did. Some of his favorite activities included his morning coffee meetings with his friends at Burger King, and dinner and dancing at the Eagles, VFW or the American Legion.
Surviving family include his wife, Sherry, of Yakima; daughters Lori (Curtis) Bethay of Yakima, Debbie Sauve of Yakima, Kathy (Dave) Evans of Yakima,Alana (Jarod) Kasner of Puyallup, WA, son Lance (Barbie) Poulson of Pullman, WA; step-sons Richard (Stacie) Laufenburger of Brooklyn, NY, Daniel (Lisa) Laufenburger of Mission, B.C. Canada; sister Darleen (Bob) Thormahlen of Fairbanks, AK; 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Christian Life Center located at 716 N. 40th Avenue, Yakima, WA. Leroy was inurned in the West Hills Memorial Park.
