Linda was raised on a farm and orchard where she rode her horse, fed pigs and rode motorcycles. Linda graduated from Wapato High School in 1969. Soon after, she met Johnny Hornstein, whom she then married on August 29, 1970. They started their family in August of 1971. Linda enjoyed being a homemaker, providing in-home childcare, and being active in her children's schools in Kennewick where they raised their four children.
Linda was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1985, and she gracefully endured the ups and downs of the disease, never complaining but always keeping a positive perspective. Linda's favorite things were holding babies, being a foster parent, playing with her small dogs (she called her babies), tending to her roses, hosting holidays, and coordinating parties for all occasions. Linda's home was full of Precious Moments figurines, nativity scenes, crosses, candles, teacups, throw pillows, and framed photo memories on every wall. She mostly enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren's sports and dance performances; and spent her summers with grandchildren going to movies, swimming lessons, vacation bible school and shopping.
John and Linda lived in Wapato for the past nine years and enjoyed traveling often to visit their children and grandchildren. Linda lived a life of lovingly serving wherever there was a need in her church, with her friends, with her neighbors, with her children and with her grandchildren. She volunteered at the Crisis Pregnancy Centers in Pasco and Yakima for five years and volunteered at the Kennewick General Hospital (Trios) gift shop for six years.
Linda's heart and soul was invested in the lives of her husband, children, grandchildren and friends; she always made time for her loved ones and was fully present when spending time with each of them.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carolyn Jean. Linda is survived by John Hornstein, daughter Toree (Joe) Conatore, daughter Sarah (Tammy) Welborn, son Mark (Cindy) Hornstein, son Luke Hornstein, and 12 grandchildren, Anthoney, Tyler, Tristian, Emma, Alyssa, Swayde, Lanea, Gage, Paige, Peyton, Connor and Cooper.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph's Church located at 520 South Garfield Street in Kennewick, Washington 99336. Those who wish to honor Linda in a special way may make gifts in memory to the Catholic Charities.
