Linda was born on October 29, 1943, in Medford, Oregon, to Leonard and Bernice Nation. She later moved with her family to Selah, Washington, where she graduated in 1962. She then made her way to Seattle, where she worked for a finance company and married Brian Burns. They welcomed their daughter, Kristine, before returning to Selah. Linda later began a new life chapter in 1977, becoming part of the early years of Rainier Fruit Company. She was respected and admired by her coworkers as a mentor and was office manager for over twenty-five years, taking great pride in the company’s growth and success.
Linda married William (Bill) Zirkle in 1994, and together they shared a life filled with love, travel, golf, gardening, and the simple joy of being together in a beautiful relationship.
Linda will be remembered for her kindness, her warm smile, and the way she made people feel truly welcome and cared for. She had a gentle way about herself that made others feel seen, valued, and at ease. She had a unique and natural way of connecting with children, making them feel special and happy in her presence. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Wanda Gailan and JoAnn Platt; and her brother, Ronald Travers. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 32 years, Bill; her daughter, Kristine (Rod) Chumley, Bill’s children, Mark Zirkle (Molly), Les Zirkle (Tara), and Amy Zirkle; and her cherished grandchildren, Clayton Chumley, Emma Chumley, Kathryn Zirkle, Emily McGuire, Isabel Zirkle, Nickolas Zirkle, Sara Zirkle, Melissa Zirkle, Attie Stroebel-Haft, and Tara Haft.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful team of caregivers who supported Linda with such compassion in her final years. A small family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate her life and memory.
