She was raised in Selah and attended Selah Schools with 2 of her lifetime friends Taura & Chelah, graduating in 1997. Lindsey developed a love of drama while attending school, perhaps inspired partially by her family’s slightly bent sense of humor, and was very active in a number of productions through her high school career. After graduation she attended YVCC & was active with the drama program there.
Lindsey married Kasey Miles at the Selah United Methodist Church in 1999 & within a couple of years gave birth to her brightest star, Rylee Maia. Her “Ry-pie” immediately became the center of her world and they shared an enduring, beautiful love, a lifetime of shared experiences and a quirky fashion sense.
Lindsey was a free spirit who touched many lives. She enjoyed designing jewelry & crafts, body art in its many forms, gardening, cooking & eating good food with family and friends. She loved learning about different cultures and people & traveling to places near and far. Some of her favorites were Hawaii, Leavenworth with her friends & Chelan with her family. She was able to take several trip-of-a-lifetimes, including a treasured trip to Asia with her mother in the last 2 years. She had eclectic tastes & a unique sense of fashion. Wherever she has gone, her friends and family know that “she be styling” today.
In 2006 Lindsey began working at the Sports Center in Yakima. While there she blossomed into an even more outgoing & engaging person. She made many friends for a lifetime & rapidly became an important presence in the downtown Yakima scene. She was committed to her job and family there and was known for calling or dropping by when she wasn’t scheduled, just to keep an eye on what was happening. In the last year of her life she found new levels of happiness & peace that was evident to all who knew her.
Lindsey is survived by her beloved daughter Rylee, her parents Chuck & Gloria Weedin, her brother & sister-in-law Chris & Kim Weedin, brother Charlie Weedin & Michele Phelan, nieces Sierra Weedin & McKinnley Weedin, nephews Tyler Weedin & Thatcher Weedin and former sister-in-law Tina Weedin. Her work led her to form many lasting friendships within the downtown Yakima community, especially at the Sports Center and in particular with Dobbs & Eric. Because the risk of not listing everyone who was a treasured friend to her is so great we hope that her extended family will understand if we don’t try to list everyone by name. If she touched your life, you touched hers and she was as strengthened by your love as you were by hers.
Her family would like to express a special thanks and recognition to the staff & owners at the Sports Center, Bill’s Place, McGuire’s pub, Bert’s and a number of other companies that she had contact with. The expression of love, generosity, compassion & caring that has been shown for her & Rylee is overwhelming,
Services celebrating her life will be held today, Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, Yakima.
Those wishing to honor our daughter/sister/friend are encouraged to make a donation to “Lindsey’s Memorial Account for Rylee Maia Miles” at the Washington State Employee’s Credit Union, 1400 Lakeside Court, Suite 101, Yakima, WA 98902
Now, as Lindsey would say, get back to work!
