Maria "Dona Cuca" Jimenez-Macias

María Jiménez Macías, de 75 años, de Yakima, falleció en su residencia rodeada de su amada familia el 25 de Julio de 2023. Nacida en Belén del Refugio, Jalisco, María pasó sus primeros años en su ciudad natal hasta 1964 cuando emigró a la Estados Unidos.

A lo largo de su vida, María disfrutó trabajando. Durante más de tres décadas, trabajó en Fossums, Allan Bros y Sundquist y construyó muchas amistades cercanas.

La verdadera pasión de María era mostrar su amor y unir a las personas a través de su cocina. Le encantaba cocinar para sus hijos, familiares y amigos. Era conocida por sus tamales, salsa roja, albóndigas, mole dulce y la sopa de conchas favorita de sus nietos con tortillas de harina recien hechas. Su calidez se extendía más allá de la cocina, ya que disfrutaba pasar tiempo con sus diez nietos y dos bisnietos, creando hermosos recuerdos juntos durante los días de verano.

A menudo se podía encontrar a María cuidando su jardín, cultivando vida e ingredientes para su cocina. Era una mujer sabia y humilde, que ofrecía amor y apoyo incondicionales a todos los que la conocían.

Maria Jimenez Macias, age 75, of Yakima, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her beloved family on July 25, 2023. Born in Belen del Refugio, Jalisco, Maria spent her early years in her hometown until 1964 when she immigrated to the United States.

Throughout her life, Maria enjoyed working. For over three decades, she worked at Fossums, Allan Bros, and Sundquist and built many close friendships.

Maria's true passion was showing her love and bringing people together through her cooking. She delighted in cooking for her children, extended family, and friends. She was known for her tamales, salsa roja, albondigas, chicken molé and her grandchildren’s favorite sopa de conchas with fresh flour tortillas. Her warmth extended beyond the kitchen, as she cherished spending time with her ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, creating beautiful memories together during summer days.

Maria could often be found tending to her garden, cultivating life and ingredients for her cooking. She was a woman of wisdom and humility, offering unconditional love and support to all who knew her.

Maria was preceded in death by her brother Javier and sister Rosa, whose memories she held dear in her heart. Among her favorite places was Applewood Park, where she celebrated many milestones with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 49 years, Alberto Jimenez, who shared a lifetime of love and devotion with her. Also surviving her are her three daughters, Myrian Barragan (Rafael), Maria Gambito (Omar), and Dalia Nicho (Norris), whom she nurtured with boundless affection and care.
