Marilee A. Lund, age 88, of Yakima, Washington passed away peacefully Monday, October 30, 2023, with her family by her side. She is reunited with her husband, the love of her life, Paul Lund, whom she missed daily after his passing on October 9, 2014.
Marilee was born November 23, 1934, in Helena, Montana to Lewis and Dana Hankinson. She was the fourth of six children. Her parents moved the family to Selah, Washington when Marilee was young to establish themselves as the owners of a local hotel. Marilee attended school through the 9th grade, and married Ed Bullion at the age of 16. Ed and Marilee had four children together, Richard Bullion, Debra Nedeff, Patti Robinett, and Pamela Bullion.
After Ed and Marilee parted ways, she met her one true love, Paul Lund and they married July 23, 1971. This joined their two families with Paul’s children, Lesley Girard and Rick Lund from Utah. The two prioritized family time enjoying so many amazing memories fishing, camping, water skiing and barbequing at O’Sullivan Lake.
As their children began to have families of their own, their grandchildren built numerous memories doing the same thing. They remember fishing to their heart's content with their grandma while grandpa cleaned all their fish. There are so many humorous memories filled with love and adventure.
Marilee shared her love for baking, crocheting, and the Atlanta Braves with all her grandchildren. She taught with love, and lead by example. Paul and Marilee owned several rental properties and extended their knowledge of hard work and love outside of the family to build a stronger community while they resided in Union Gap.
Family was a focal point for both Marilee and Paul, they hosted 4th of July and their infamous Christmas Eve celebration filled with manicotti and homemade Christmas treats. These annual events were open to all, and many extended family and friends joined in.
As members of the American Legion, Eagles Club, and bowling leagues they had many friends they had the opportunity to share family stories, dance, compete and live life with. One of the things the family remembers most is their love of music and dance. Marilee could sing almost any old country song, and her and Paul had some smooth moves on the dance floor. Even when Marilee couldn’t move as good as she once did, her and Paul would go just to enjoy the music.
Marilee lived many loving years with Paul, the day he passed was so incredibly hard for her. She missed him every day until she joined him in the kingdom of heaven to embrace in each other’s arms and dance together once again.
In Marilee’s passing our family has come together and shared so many memories, full of laughter and tears. The time together has started healing our hearts as we say “until we see each other again” to an amazing, mother, grandmother, friend, and woman.
Marilee is survived by her brother Ted (Joann) Hankinson of Selah, Gary Hankinson of Vancouver, Washington, and her sister Cheryl Hankinson of Eugene, Oregon. Her children Debra (Scott) Nedeff, Patti (Greg) Robinett, Pamela Bullion, and Lesley (Tom) Girard. Numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Dana Hankinson, her husband Paul Lund, brothers Vernon and Louis Hankinson, and her sons Richard Bullion and Rick Lund.
