Mary DeLora (Dode) Dufault, 94, of Moxee, WA passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Dode was born in Yakima, WA to Theodore Fraser and Mary (Deeringhoff) Fraser on September 25, 1929. She attended St. Paul Grade School and graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1947. A Cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Dode's nurturing heart touched countless lives within her family and community. She had a gift of befriending people. She cherished her family and friends, and always had a loaf of apple bread or other baked goods to share. Her legacy of compassion, love and laughter will be treasured for generations.
Dode married Marcel (Pete) Dufault, the love of her life on October 21, 1950 at St. Paul's Cathedral in Yakima, WA. and together they raised six children. Her time cooking and baking brought much happiness to her life. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, walking and entertaining friends and family. In addition to being a lifelong homemaker, Dode enjoyed working at Yakima Meadows Race Track and also Woolf's Drug Store. Family barbecues on the ranch, picnics at Eschbach Park along with annual trips to the beach and doing for others were some of her greatest joys.
Dode was an active member of Holy Rosary Parish in Moxee and was involved in Altar Society and the Ladies of St. Anne. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, a lay person who assists the priest in administering the elements of Holy Communion, the consecrated bread and wine. Both Pete and Dode enjoyed being involved with Serra Club, an organization to promote and foster vocations to the priesthood and consecrated religious life. Dode's faith was her driving force in life.
She is survived by her six children, Jim Dufault, Doug Dufault (Diane), Sandy Fielder (Joel), Carol DeGooyer (Bob), Patrick Dufault, Ted Dufault (Michaela); ten grandchildren, Jason Dufault (Angie), Ryan Fielder (Hester), Jenny Bauersfeld (Dane), Matt DeGooyer (Laura), Aaron Fielder (Casey), Ashley Lee (Taft), Angela Fielder, Michael DeGooyer (Jayme), Blake Dufault, and Lexi Dufault along with 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carmel Dufault as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcel (Pete) Dufault of 71 years, as well as her brother James Fraser.
Visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception immediately following in the Parish Hall. Private Interment will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Cemetery.
The family would like to acknowledge and extend our sincere thank you to those who have cared for, and befriended Dode while she lived at Creekstone Senior Living in Kennewick the last two years. We also want to extend our gratitude for the care DeLora received at Kadlec Regional Medical Center.
