Mayra Alejandra Cortes-Mojarro went to be with the Lord on Thursday September 20th, 2018 at the age of 22 after her courageous battle with cancer. Mayra was born in Yakima, Washington on February 20th, 1996 to Guadalupe and Berenice Cortes.
Mayra was an A.C Davis High School athlete and graduate, class of 2013. Mayra continued her post-secondary education at Eastern Washington University where she became a sister of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. in the Epsilon Epsilon chapter where she earned her LKA (Lambda Known As) of Corazon Celestial. She then later transferred to Central Washington University where she studied to obtain a Bachelor in Science, Biomedical Science Specialization Degree. While studying for her degree she was a substitute para-educator for the Union Gap School District.
Mayra loved being outdoors, her favorite sport being soccer, she enjoyed getting her nails done, loved spending time with her family, her favorite color was yellow, she was also a competitive board game player and enjoyed watching TED talks and reading motivational and empowerment books. Mayra was a beautiful soul, her smile lit up every room, and she was the life of the party as well as a natural born leader. Though she is no longer with us, her light keeps shining on us, reminding us to keep on celebrating her life.
Mayra is survived by her parents Guadalupe and Berenice Cortes, her siblings Ricardo (Jessica) Cortes, Beljica (Armando) Franco, and Adriana Olea-Lopez, her nephews Irvin and Argelia Franco, her very close niece Tania Cardenas, and lastly by her pet dogs Simba and Loki. Mayra is preceded in death by her grandparents Vicente Fernandez and Esperanza Cortes as well as Felipe and Maria Mojarro. Mayra will be missed dearly by all her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will be held Sunday, September 30th, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home. A mass will be held Monday, October 1st, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 9:30 am followed by a burial at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
