Nancy Joan (Wise) Stroud

Nancy was born in Yakima, Washington to Robert and Olive Wise on December 14, 1940. She grew up in the Yakima Valley and attended school at Union Gap, Jefferson, and Davis High School.

She married Donald J. Stroud on October 5, 1974. Between them, they had many children, his, hers, and ours.

Nancy worked a variety of jobs throughout her life. She was a waitress and cook at her parents cafe in Gleed, an agricultural worker picking seasonal crops such as cherries, apples, pears, peaches etc., and she thrilled her children by taking a job at the CWSF and some smaller carnivals making cotton candy.

She traveled within the United States for work and pleasure to places like California, Montana, Idaho, Texas, Utah, Oregon, and even Alaska.

She was a mother to her children and step-children, a grandmother to 18 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert M. and Olive L. Wise, several siblings, Mabel Leona, Charlene, Roberta, Mary June, Cleo, Joe, and Shelby. She also had one stillborn son.

Nancy will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by her husband Don Stroud, her daughters, Mo’Ree Thomas (David) of Texas, Mo’Lin Short (Gary) of Yakima, her son, Robert Stroud of Yakima, her step-daughters Donna Roberts and Linda Kemp, and her step-son Tim Stroud. She has also made memories with her grandchildren, Jaime Rodriguez (Ricky), David Thomas Jr., Bethany Clifford (Marc), Bradley Thomas (Jessica), Reina Jackson (Robert), Jacquelyn Stroud, Austin Stroud, Morgan Stroud, Leslie Stroud, Clayton Stroud (Ariana), Maria Short, Ana Faria-Stroud, Tim Stroud, Olivia Stroud, and Yuvia Stroud. She is also survived by her sister, Moree Kimmel (John) of Montana, and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday January 16, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, 112 N. Pierce Avenue in Yakima. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be share at www.keithandkeith.com.
