Our loving mother and wife Nell Brandt died peacefully at her home on November 4, 2019 at the age of 93. She was born in Jogyakarta, Indonesia, the former Dutch East Indies, on October 24, 1926 to Marius Herman Tabor Keilman and Jeanne (Corver) Keilman.
Nell grew up on sugar plantations in Indonesia. In 1951 she moved to Holland to follow her soon to be husband Cornelis Diedrich Brandt. They were married September 16, 1952 in Amsterdam, Holland. Nell worked as a lab technician at the Institute Pasteur while her husband attended medical school in Amsterdam.
In 1956 Nell and Dieter immigrated to Seattle, WA where she worked at the Virginia Mason Hospital as a medical technician while Dieter pursued his American medical license. In 1957 she and Dieter moved to Toppenish, WA where she helped him set up and run his first general practice. In 1959 they moved to Yakima.
Nell was a loving mother and homemaker who often took her children on road trips around the state. She was very active through the years playing volleyball, swimming, hiking, skiing, going to aerobics and playing bridge. She loved going to Mt. Rainier and Rimrock Lake, and her yard was always beautiful and full of flowers.
