Noel Weaver Groves

1952–2026

Noël Weaver Groves, 73, passed away on February 17, 2026, during her daily hike with her beloved husband and eternal companion, Dan.

Born December 28, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ted and Sylvia Weaver, Noël grew up in the East Millcreek area near Mt. Olympus in the Wasatch Range alongside four siblings. She studied Spanish diligently in school and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature from the University of Utah.

Noël served as a missionary in the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she formed lifelong friendships and shared her love of Jesus Christ in Miami and Puerto Rico. She had a deep love for all creatures, great and small, with a special affection for horses.

In December 1982, Noël married Daniel Groves in the Oakland California Temple for time and all eternity. The couple had three sons while living in Yakima and raised them in the Nile Valley near Naches, Washington.

Noël shared her passion for music by singing with the Yakima Symphony Chorus for over 30 years. She found great joy in teaching struggling students to read excellently in the Naches Valley School District. She loved spending time outdoors hiking, horseback riding, and cross country skiing, and was expert at gardening, canning salsa, preserving fruit, and baking whole wheat bread.

After retiring, Noël and Dan served together as full-time missionaries in the Texas McAllen Mission (Rio Grande City area). She loved sharing her testimony of Jesus Christ, especially with her children and grandchildren, and was radiant while serving in the House of the Lord.

A funeral service will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Naches, Washington. Viewing: 9:45–10:45 a.m. Interment: 3:00 p.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, 3001 Terrace Heights Drive, Yakima, Washington.
