Norman Frenchie J. St. George

Norman attended Marquette High School in Yakima. He served in the US Army as a Specialist 3rd class cook and was stationed in Germany from 1955-56, where he developed a passion for German sausage and accordion music. He returned to Yakima and married Janette Fox. They had five children together. He worked for Snyder’s Bakery, where he ran the oven for over 37 years, and acquired the nickname “Frenchie”, retiring in 1989.

Norman thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family. Summers were spent camping and fishing at lakes across the state. Holidays were full of kids and later grandkids all joining in the fun. At Christmas he wore his Jolly Scrooge hat and measured his presents by how many pounds of chocolate he received. He also had a sizeable collection of stuffed monkeys.

Norman is survived by his sons, Bernie (Judy) St. George of Richland, and Marty (Michelle) St. George of Yakima; daughters, Rosie (Dale ) Jones of Yakima and Mary (John) Newman of Carnation; grandchildren, Lisa Jorgensen of Yakima, Sarah Van Leuven of Wenatchee, Jennifer, Christina, Tommy, and Adam St. George of Yakima, and Michael St. George of Anacortes; step grandchildren, Cristi Carpenter of Richland, Brenda Nelson of Pasco, Denise Christensen of Kennewick, Craig Nelson of Richland, and Andrew Newman of Seattle; 7great grand children and 8 step great grand children; and his faithful dog, Bear.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Charles and Ditterrena (Menard) St. George; his son Daniel St. George; and his brother, Archie St. George.
