

Norman Suckow, 72 of Yakima died April 7, 2011 at Apple Creek Adult Family Homes. Norm was born August 29, 1938 in Yakima to Marvin and Viola Suckow. He attended Wide Hollow Grade School and graduated from Yakima Sr. High School with the class of 1956. Mr. Suckow owned and operated the 11th Avenue Barbershop for a number of years before investing in property in Oak Harbor. He owned the Marina View Minimart and also, worked as a civilian barber on The Navy Base.
After selling the Oak Harbor property, Norm lived for a couple years on his boat.
In later years until 2003, Norm wintered in Arizona and worked at Mt. Rainier in the summer months. He enjoyed Mt. climbing and put a lot of miles on his bicycle, riding with a group of retired people in Arizona.
Survivors include one stepson, Adam (Jimi) Harris and two grandsons, Adam and Brandon Harris, all of Longview, WA; one brother, Robert (Lorraine) Suckow of Brunswick, ME; one sister, Darlene (Marlen) Rieker of Yakima, WA; 3 nephews, Ronald (Connie) Rieker; John (Laurie) Hood of Yakima, WA; and Roger (Amy) Suckow of Brunswick, ME and 1 niece, Cindy (Bill) Price of Bath, ME.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents, one niece, Karen (Rieker) Hood and two nephews, Gordon Rieker and Robert Suckow.
Visitation will be held 4-8pm, Tuesday, April 12, 2011 and Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A graveside service will be held 10:00am, Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Tahoma Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 1:00pm, at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel.
