YAKIMA - Orval L. Taylor passed away at home on April 4, 2013. He was born at home in Marland
(Three Sands), OK on August 1, 1927, to Winfred and Alta (Maddux) Taylor. Dad was the youngest of 4 boys. Glen, Clyde, Lyle, and dad moved to the Wapato/Harrah area at a young age. He
attended Wapato schools and graduated from Wapato High in 1945.
Dad joined the U.S. Navy right after graduation. He served from June 1945 to August 1946.
Because the war was over, he served several years in the Navy Reserves. He received the WWII
Victory Medal. Dad married his high school sweetheart Marion (Dugger) on March 1946 in
Wapato, WA. They had four children; Larry, Gary, Perry, and Sherrie.
They lived in the Wapato area for about ten years. Dad bought a small grocery store in Wapato,
but it was destroyed by fire. Dad was not insured, but was very proud that he was able to payoff
every vendor. Dad worked a number of years for the WA State Dept of Agriculture-Enforcement
Division. They moved to Yakima. Dad then worked for The National Can plant in Yakima
eventually becoming the plant manager. He then started driving truck and became a local
delivery driver for Garrett Freight (ANR), and made friends up and down the valley. He was
proud of several safe driving awards during that time. He retired from Garrett.
Dad was a longtime member of Central Lutheran Church. He was also a long time blood donor
for the American Red Cross. He was also active as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts for a
number of years. He also enjoyed helping his neighbors in the Golden Villa Mobile Home Park
until his poor health curbed his activities.
After our mother's death, Dad remarried Loreda (Neeper), and gained two step-children Steve,
and Jacquelyne, and granddaughter Melia. Dad and Lori enjoyed their time together and were
able to enjoy a number of trips and adventures.
Dad is survived by his brother Clyde Taylor of Port Orchard, W A, his children Larry of Ann
Arbor, Mi, Gary (Teresa) of Yakima, Perry (Karen) of Canyon Lake, TX, Sherrie of Everett,
WA, Jacquelyne (Sam) Bise of Portland, OR, and Steve Neeper. Grandchildren Betsey Bauguess
of Selah, Ben (Ericka) Taylor of Hayden Lake, ID, Trisha (BJ) Quinn of Yakima, Brian Taylor,
Bradley Taylor, Brenda Taylor, Alex Bergstrom (Seattle), and Melia.
He also had numerous great-grandchildren including Taylor Bauguess, Madison Rath., Christy
Woodall, Avery Allen, Dylan Taylor, Rhythm Taylor, Kaden Quinn, and Travis Taylor.
Dad was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Glen and Lyle, his wives Marion and
Loreda, nephew Mike Taylor, and his favorite dog T-Bone.
