

Yakima- Patricia Ann Nuzum, 87, of Yakima, passed away on November 29, 2014 at Cottage in the Meadow. Pat was born on November 18, 1927, in Whitefish, Montana, the youngest of six daughters, to Stanley and Rachel Deputy.
Pat graduated from high school in Whitefish, and then from Washington State University with a Business and Economics degree. She was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.
Following college, Pat worked at Northwest Casualty Company in Seattle, where she met Ralph Nuzum. In 1953, she took a freighter ship to Japan to marry Ralph who was serving as a physician in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. They were married in civil and religious ceremonies on July 7th and 8th, 1953. Pat and Ralph honeymooned in Kyoto and lived in Japan before moving back to Seattle, where Ralph completed his medical training. In 1955, they moved to Yakima to raise their family, and Ralph started his Internal Medicine practice. They created a wonderful home for their four daughters. Pat was an accomplished pianist, a talented seamstress, and an avid football fan. Later, Pat and Ralph loved spending time with their grandchildren and traveling.
In 2005, Pat moved from her home of 48 years on Barge Street to Living Care Retirement Community. She developed wonderful, supportive, fun-loving friendships with residents and their friends, and staff. While residing at Living Care, she enjoyed attending theater, music, and community events. She also volunteered, attended exercise classes, and socialized with friends at coffee in the Village Cafe.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her parents, and sisters Gladys, Ruth, Rosalyn, Helen, and Marion. She is survived by her daughters Cathleen Robinson and her husband Andy of Bend, OR, Laurie Terjeson of Athena, OR, Mary Alexander and her husband Richard of Bonney Lake, WA, and Anne Fuller and her husband Guy of Santa Fe, NM; her sister-in-law Beverlei Hoerlein and husband Paul; 13 grandchildren: Analice, Andre, Juliana, Zoe, Mitchell, Addie, Ron, Emily, Martha, Abby, Lily, Sam, and Claire, and twin great-grandsons Devin and Logan; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
At Pat's request, no formal services will be held. She will be inurned in the Terrace Heights Memorial Park with a private family gathering at a later date. Gifts in Pat’s memory may be made to Living Care Retirement Community or Cottage in the Meadow, through Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
