Paul was born on July 12, 1931, in Ogden, Utah, to Walter Lund and Ethel Miller. He and his older brother, Bob, were raised by their loving paternal aunt, Irene Lund.
As a little boy, he collected pop bottles so he could buy the coveted penny candy of his day; this began his strong work ethic that continued throughout his life. Every day was an adventure waiting to happen because Paul never lacked ingenuity in creating his pastimes. As a teenager, he loved cars and drove them “fast and furious.” He graduated from Ogden High School and later served our country in the military during the Korean War.
He married Barbara Blunk, and together they had two children, Lesley and Rick. They later divorced, and he moved to Union Gap, Washington, where he continued working as a meat cutter for Swift & Co. He then met and married the love of his life, Marilee Bullion, and they shared their lives together for the next 43 years.
Paul retired from Swift & Co. and then worked as a handyman for Kmart for several more years. During that time, he built and managed several rental properties that surrounded his home.
Paul enjoyed camping, swimming, boating, water skiing, and fishing. Dancing the night away at the American Legion was also a passion of his. Above all, he treasured the times spent with family and friends. We will all miss the stories and poems he shared. He was our go-to guy when we needed answers to fixing just about anything. All in all, he was the rock of our family.
Paul is survived by his wife, Marilee; his daughter, Lesley (Tom) Gerard; his stepdaughters, Debbie (Scott) Nedeff, Patti (Greg) Robinett, and Pam Bullion; his stepson, Rick Bullion; his daughter-in-law Debbi Lund, his brother, Robert (Dee) Lund; his brothers-in-law, Vern Hankinson, Gary (Bonnie) Hankinson, and Ted (Joanne) Hankinson; his sister-in-law, Cheryl Hankinson; his sixteen grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Rick Lund.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 17, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Keith and Keith Funeral Home, 902 West Yakima Ave, Yakima. Friends may pay their respects to Paul’s family on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
