Peter Michael Hancock with grace and strength was called home on July 31, 2022. A man who loved his family and truly lived life to the fullest. He could light up a room with his laugh and love for everyone! His presence will be deeply missed.
Peter was born on March 19, 1956, to Pascal Calvin and Shirley Anne Hancock. The family moved to Ellensburg, WA the year after Peter was born. It was there that he received his education and graduated from Ellensburg High School. He was very active in sports; lettering in football, basketball, and baseball. As a child, it was a summer tradition to go to Penticton BC Canada with family and friends. His childhood memories are where his love for boating and traveling with the family began.
His college education then began at Central Washington University, where he then transferred to Washington State University. He graduated with his degree in business and finance. His career started as a bank loan officer. After a couple of years, he realized a 9 to 5 desk job was not for him. Peter loved the hustle of the business world and became a self-made businessman; where his charisma, drive, and intelligence took his career to great places in the agriculture industry. The relationships and business deals he made as the CEO and president of CPC International Apple Company will forever leave a mark on the agriculture industry and the town of Tieton, WA.
However, his time at the bank brought him the best thing that ever happened to him. It is where he met his coworker and gorgeous bride Jennifer Patterson. They married on January 26, 1985, and started a beautiful life together. Jennifer was the glue and constant love and support by his side through all his career endeavors and their greatest joy to date, their three children, Chantel, Ashley, and Brock - the ABC kids. He and Jennifer rarely missed a sports game and were always ready for the next family adventure. This included their trips to Lake Chelan, boating and crabbing on his beloved Firecracker to Roche Harbor, and all the memories in Couer d’Alene at the lake and poolside or on the golf course in Indian Wells, CA. If Peter would have had his way, his three adult children, spouses and grandkids would’ve been on vacation together all year round with a red solo cup in hand, soaking in the sun! Peter was bigger than life...legendary. Nothing was bigger than his heart for his wife, kids, and five grandchildren. Oh, how those grandchildren adored and spoke so lovingly of their Pappa Pete - his favorite title.
Peter’s legacy and memory will live through his surviving family- wife Jennifer, eldest daughter Chantel & Brandon Meara, middle daughter Ashley and Zaine Braley, only son Brock Hancock and grandchildren Dredyn (12), Ryder (8), Maddison (7), Taylor (5), Mackenzie (1) and a grandson on the way. He is also survived by his only sister Tami (Rick) Gartner and niece Kaycee (Andy) Layman and their 2 children.
He is proceeded in death by his Mom and Dad Pascal and Shirley Hancock. What a beautiful gift being reunited with their son.
