Richard Wayne Smyth
March 16, 1947 – November 1, 2018
Richard W Smyth, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2018. He was born on March 16, 1947 in Yakima, Washington to William P Smyth and Morae Smyth (Waters).
Richard graduated from AC Davis High School in Yakima, Washington. After he graduated, he joined the Air Force where he served from 1968 to 1979. Upon leaving the Air Force, he started working at Treetop in Selah as a forklift driver until he retired at age 67.
He loved his family most but enjoyed playing golf, watching the Seattle Mariners play, and was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan.
Richard is survived by his children Sean C Smyth (Kristin Smyth) of Yakima, WA, and Angela R. Reyes (Anthony Reyes) of Selah, WA. He had five granddaughters who he loved dearly, Hailee Smyth of Bremerton, Tayler Smyth of Yakima, Jade Reyes (Stevie Alvear) of Yakima, Alexis Saldana (Esau Saldana) of Yakima, and Sydny Reyes of Selah. He also had five great-grandchildren who he loved spoiling, Stevie Alvear, Marley Saldana, Eric Saldana, Izaiah Mendez, and Jayden Alvear. He is also survived by his sister Joan Laughery (Olan Laughery) of Naches, his nieces Bobby Laughery (Gary Holder) of Terrace Heights, and Janet Davis (Jeff Davis) of West Valley, and his nephew Steve Laughery (Becky Laughery) of Yakima, and also his ex-wife Vicki Smyth of West Valley.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Morae Smyth.
Per Richard’s request there will be no services, only a private family service graveside.
