

Robert A. “Bob” Osborne passed away on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at Yakima Memorial Hospital. He was 82. He was born in Longbranch, New Jersey on Oct. 5, 1933 to Walter and Marion Kelsey Osborn. As an Army family, they moved frequently. Bob graduated high school in Tacoma early and enlisted in the Navy at 17. He proceeded to achieve the rank of Lieutenant JG or Junior Grade and concurrently finished his Master’s degree in Math. He worked in Intelligence at the Pentagon and Communications aboard an aircraft carrier, and served active duty during the Korean Conflict. It was love at first sight when he met Bette Bennett and they married soon after in 1957. Bob and Bette settled in Yakima with their 3 kids in 1964, where Bob taught physics at Yakima Valley College for the next 34 years. Students and fellow faculty alike enjoyed his penchant for pun jokes! Bob is survived by his three children: Kathy Courter, Victoria O’Kain and Bennett Osborne, 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Anyone who has been touched in any way by Bob is welcome to come to the service at 11 am and to the viewing from 12-5 on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at Langevin Funeral Home, 1010 W.
