His family immigrated to America in 1927, working crop harvests from Texas to North Dakota.
Robert proudly served with the 468th Air Service Squadron of the 8th Army Air Corp in England during WWII. It was there that he met his first wife. After the war, Robert lived in Texas where he studied to be an automotive mechanic under the GI Bill, but soon moved his family to the Yakima Valley. Here he found work with Pacific Power and Lighting putting up power poles and lines from the Columbia Gorge, throughout central Washington, to Snoqualmie Pass. He married his second wife in 1965, bought a house in Yakima where he lived the rest of his life. Robert was an avid fisherman and dancer. He was still dancing regularly at the Harmon Center, American Legion, and the Eagles through the last year of his life. If it were possible, Robert would’ve fished all day and danced all night, seven days a week. Over the span of his life Robert was father to 7 children, 3 step children, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
