Robert M. (Bob) Torgerson Jr. peacefully passed away at Cottage in the Meadow the morning of September 29, 2018. Bob was born in Sidney, Montana on October 22, 1940. He was the oldest son of Robert M. and Alice M. (Goodson) Torgerson, he was raised on a farm north of Dooley, MT until the family moved into town at the age of 13. He graduated from Plentywood High School in 1958. Bob enlisted in the service in 1959 and had an honorable discharge in 1967. He went to work for the Bureau of Reclamation and later was the Watermaster in George, WA for the Quincy Columbia Basin Irrigation District.
In 1978 Bob met Judy Leader and they married in 1981. In 1986, they moved to Moxee, WA where he bought a mobile dimension saw to work with his uncle in the wood industry. In the mid 90’s he went to work for Sun Royal/D&M Chemical, which led to driving truck for CJF Trucking. Being in the truck hauling fruit was one of his favorite activities.
Throughout the years Bob endured many health problems but he always managed to bounce back. The hardest thing he had to do was give up his CDL and quit driving truck.
He was able to make his last trip to Montana in July of this year for a family reunion and a 60th year class reunion. He was the happiest playing cards and loved going to the casino.
Bob is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter Alice Torgerson of Prineville, OR; son Marty Leader of Union Gap; two grandsons, Kyle and Ryan Leader of Yakima; brother Otto Torgerson of Antelope, MT; brother Bill (Teri) Torgerson of Moses Lake, WA; and sister Jo Ann (Larry) Garrick of Plentywood, MT. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew and a niece.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cottage in the Meadow for their wonderful care and compassion during Bob’s short stay.
