to Alberta Nelson (Stageberg) and Oscar Nelson on November 14, 1917. He grew up in Roslyn and graduated from
Roslyn/CleElem High School in 1935. He attended the University of Washington and joined the Navy in 1942 serving
in the Pacific for two years as a Pharmacist 1st Class during World War II.
Uncle Bob worked in the Northwest Improvement Store in Roslyn during the years the mines were operating. He later
managed the Roslyn and CleElum State Banks. Upon retirement Uncle Bob moved to Yakima and worked part time
in Peoples' Department store.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid skier and fisherman.
He was frequently on hiking trips and enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader. He also loved music and was a drummer in
many bands throughout his life. After retirement he enjoyed his years playing in the Yakima Community Band.
He was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church and the Masonic Lodge (Roslyn/CleElum), Kiwanis (Roslyn), and the
Lions Club (Yakima). He was a member of the Roslyn Chapter of the VFW. He was a very special person to his nieces as he
frequently traveled with their family and was the go to person for fun during the holidays. He was a kind, loving, and
generous man. He will be greatly missed. \
He is survived by niece Gwyn Trull (James) Sunnyside Washington and niece Sara MacIntyre (Ron Helmkin) of Gresham,
Oregon, a grandnephew Kyle MacIntyre of Monmouth, Oregon and grandniece Christine MacIntyre of Corvallis, Oregon, and
brother-in-law Ralph Thomas of Gresham, Oregon.
The family would like to recognize the staff at Living Care Assisted Living and Summitview Nursing Home for their dedication to Uncle Bob and exceptional care.
A Graveside Inurnment Service will be held on November 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Roslyn Veteran's Cemetery.
