

Robert L. Wurl (aka Bob Wurl) entered into the Joy of the Lord on November 13, 2025, at the age of 89, in Yakima, WA. He was born on December 18, 1935, in Yakima to Reinhold and Alice Wurl. He is preceded in death by his parents Reinhold and Alice, sister Carolyn Hope, and his high school sweetheart/wife Selma of 40 years. Bob remarried in 1995 and is survived by his wife Doris of 30 yrs; son Dan Wurl, daughter-in-law Dede Wurl, daughter Kelly Olson, son-in-law Jim Olson, daughter Keasha Soule, son-in-law Steve Soule; grandchildren Crystal Simpson and husband Josh, Daniel Wurl and wife Anisa, Krista Olson, Bryttani Hatchel and husband Mathieu, Dakota Soule, and Sara Gefre and husband Benjamin; great grandchildren Joshua Simpson, Jacob Simpson, Trevor Wurl, Elliott Wurl, Zoe Hatchel, and Karter Gefre.
Growing up, Bob attended local schools and finished his education at Yakima High School, married and moved to Riverside, CA. There, he worked for Rohr Aircraft Corporation for 20 yrs, raised his family and returned to Yakima to take over the family business of fruit farming. Bob also worked for Washington Beef in the maintenance and security departments. In addition to his work, he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, and attending local basketball and baseball games.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church all of his life and spent the last 30 yrs at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, becoming an elder, visiting shut-ins and providing service wherever it was needed. Bob and Selma were foster parents, caring for newborns up to teenagers, totaling 12 children during their marriage. Bob enjoyed various activities including volunteering at Oak Creek Wildlife Area, ushering at Capitol Theater, and Domino’s delivery person. Bob was friendly and outgoing. He enjoyed people and touched many lives. Bob will be missed by his family, friends, church and many acquaintances.
