Robert Delbert Wyatt (Bob), 62, of Yakima, went home to the Lord on August 3, 2013, with his loving family at his side. He was born on November 14, 1950, in Newport News, VA, to the late Marvin D. and Alice S. Wyatt of Newport News. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert W. and Hazel B. Wyatt, and Archie R. and Lena B. Smith, all of Newport News. He is survived by his loving wife Marion and sons Randall (Bethany) and Riley of Yakima, and Dr. Christopher Escott of San Antonio, TX; brother Alan of New Kent, VA; sisters Pamela (Donald) Creel of Woodland Park, CO, and Lynn (James) Breed of Baldwinsville, NY; uncle Archie (Carlita) Smith of Chesapeake, VA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob was a long-time member of Deer Park Baptist Church in Newport News, and attended First Presbyterian Church of Yakima.

Bob graduated from Warwick High School in 1968 and continued his education at Old Dominion College, majoring in criminal justice until he was drafted into the military. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served 4 years at the USCG station in Yorktown, VA. Upon honorable discharge, he worked several different jobs, only to realize that he wanted to continue his education. He enrolled at Christopher Newport College where he graduated magna cum laude. Bob then joined the federal government working with the U.S. Forestry Service and the Internal Revenue Service. He finally realized his passion for law enforcement when he became a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, where he excelled in his field. He was notable for the large number of cases he prepared, and won numerous awards throughout his years of service. Upon mandatory retirement in 2007, he continued to work in security for various organizations.

His greatest passion was his family. He and Marion raised 3 accomplished sons and they took great joy in spending many wonderful times together.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on August 9, 2013, at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 10, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, 9 S. 8th Ave, with a graveside service to follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robert D. Wyatt Memorial Fund, in care of Banner Bank.

We were devastated to to hear of Bobs accident and passing and we wanted to take a moment to tell his family how very sorry we are.
We worked in the same building as Bob and we never passed him with out stopping to talk for at least 20 minutes...He loved talking about his family, job and life. We totally enjoyed our brief times with him and will miss seeing him

There are no words that I can think of to express my heartfelt wishes for The Wyatt's. Bob was truly an awesome man to have had in our lives, no matter the length of time. He was an honorable man. It was with pride that I was fortunate enough to call him brother-in-law. Gone from our sights but you will live in our hearts forever. Prayers and condolences to his beloved family.

Bob is truly a legend in Yakima law enforcement and I'm privileged to have known him. We didn't get to work any cases together but he always had time to stop and chat. He often talked about his family and it was obvious how important his family was to him. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. RIP Bob - you will be missed by many.

I had the privilege to work with Bob while I was still on YPD. He was a true professional. We never ran into each other anywhere without at least a 20 minute visit! Bob was one of the good guys.
