Our Mom, Ruby Mae Hart (Graham) passed away Christmas Morning, December 25, 2015. She was born on May 26, 1926 in Sunnyside, Washington to Van and Ethel Graham. She was one of 14 children. On March 28th, 1948 she married Wesley Dean Hart. She was one of three sisters that married Hart brothers. They spent most of their married life living in the Yakima Valley. They raised 6 sons, Gordon Alan, Wesley (Skip) Lloyd, Stanley D, Roger Keith, Kenneth Wayne, Jeffery Paul and one daughter, Candice Kaye.
Even though Mom assisted Dad in some of his earlier business ventures she was truly a homemaker. We do not believe anything gave Mom more joy than being in the kitchen preparing food for her family and their friends. All of the grandchildren and the neighborhood kids still rave about grandma's hot cakes cooked on a well-used black iron pan and drenched in her homemade marshmallow syrup, which just cannot be duplicated. It was a special year, when you were old enough to not receive a store bought gift from Mom/Grandma but instead she baked you your own chosen dessert be it Custard Pie, German Chocolate Cake or Pecan Pie. The Christmas Holiday was made special when Mom presented each family with heaping platters of assorted cookies, various mini loaves of sweet breads, fudge and handmade candies. It was a special meal when Mom fried up chicken and prepared her potato salad.
Mom spent countless enjoyable hours crocheting dollies and knitting colorful blankets that are treasured by us that have them. Many grandchildren wrapped themselves up in one of those blankets made just for them. Very few events gave her greater joy than holding a new addition to our ever-growing family for she loved all her babies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons (Gordon and Skip) as well as eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by two sisters: Janice Sheets and Joanne Jackson and her children, Stan of Cowiche, Keith (Janet) of Cowiche, Ken (Monica) of Bellevue, Jeff of Richland and Candy (Jim) Thompson of Yakima. Along with 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Several months before her passing Mom related to us a vivid dream she had. She was holding Dad's hand as they walked through a green field happy to be together. Mom, dreams do come true and we are all certain and comforted by the thought that this is one that has.
