Russell Gene Daniels, 69 years old, passed away peacefully at his home on May 25, 2026, in Yakima, Washington. Russ was born on September 1, 1956, in Toppenish, Washington to Richard Charles Daniels and Arlene (Mauch) Pool.
Russ graduated from West Valley High School in 1975 and married his high school sweetheart, JoAnne Johnson on June 17, 1978, at the Ahtanum Pioneer Church. Side by side, they celebrated 48 wonderful years of marriage and a lifetime of shared memories.
Russ worked in construction as an Ironworker for 15 years before changing careers to drive truck, ultimately ending back at Hanford as a Teamster.
The rodeo arena was a second home to Russ. An avid team roper, he loved the sport, the horses, and the lifelong friends he made along the way. He was just as quick to head as he was to heel, entirely at peace among the dust, the camaraderie, and the pure thrill of a perfect run.
While he took pride in his work and his passion for roping, Russ’ true priority was always his family. He spent his life protecting and providing for the people he loved most, ensuring their home was always full of warmth, laughter, and unwavering support.
Russ is survived by his wife, JoAnne, his children Jolene (Chad) Vesey, Vickie (Chris) Wasser, and grandchildren, Adison Vesey, Regan Vesey and Cole Wasser.
Services will be held in Yakima, Washington.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Monday, June 1st, 2026, from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Keith & Keith Funeral Home located at 902 W Yakima Ave.
