

She was born October 22, 1930 in Potter, Kansas to David and Dessie (Lee) Calhoun. Ruth moved to Washington State with her family as a child and grew up in the Wapato area, graduating from Wapato High School in 1949. Ruth was a homemaker, and enjoyed participating in all of her children and grandchildren’s activities. She was active in Terrace Heights Baptist Church, teaching many children and their children in Sunday School and Girls in Action. Ruth especially enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and crafting.
She is survived by son Scott (Cindy) Elliott of Spokane, son Chris Elliott of Yakima, daughter Michelle (David) Simpson of Federal Way, and daughter Kelly (Jerry) Bissonette of Yakima, brother James (Sally) Calhoun of Yakima, brother Larry (Joyce) Calhoun of Yakima, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Elliott, parents, and brother Don Calhoun.
Viewing will be at Keith & Keith 9th Avenue on Thursday, February 26, 2015, from 4-8 pm. Funeral Service will be Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Keith & Keith 9th Avenue Chapel with burial at West Hills Memorial Park.
