It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth "Dink" Williams, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by the family she loved so deeply, Dink departed this world with the same quiet grace and strength that defined her 83 years.
Born Ruth Hicks on December 19, 1942, in Galena, Missouri, Dink was the cherished daughter of Earl and Elizabeth Hicks. She was raised in a loving, warm home alongside her eleven siblings, forming bonds that remained important throughout her life.
As a young woman, Dink met the love of her life, Curly Williams. The two were married on July 27, 1956, and shared 40 beautiful years together. Their marriage was built on true love, commitment, and partnership as they raised three daughters and created a family legacy grounded in compassion, laughter, and unwavering warmth.
Dink is survived by her daughters, Treva (Troy) Brown and Janice Smith; her brothers, Jay Hicks and Donald Hicks; and her sister, Ruby Putman. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: David (Angie) Brown, Melanie (Chris) Adams, Amy Brown, Stephanie Smith (Brian Barajas), and Cory Smith; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Each of them carries forward the values, love, and strength she instilled throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curly Williams; her daughter, Cathy Douglas; her parents, Earl and Elizabeth Hicks; and eight of her siblings.
Dink found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved spending time outdoors, whether tending her garden, pulling weeds, or simply enjoying the warmth of the sunshine. She delighted in reading a good book and looked forward to trips to the casino. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family, whose happiness and well-being were always her greatest priorities.
Those who knew Dink will remember her as a woman of quiet virtue, humility, and grace. She was selfless, kind, and steadfast in her love for others, never seeking recognition for herself. She preferred to work behind the scenes, finding her greatest fulfillment in helping those around her succeed and thrive.
Dink's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, resilience, and faith. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her, and her gentle spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives of her family and friends.
Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave and the example she set will live on for generations to come.
