“Where, O death is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?" These are the words written by Paul in the book of Corinthians.
This beautiful affirmation is so relevant to the passing of Sally Jo Cook on April 12th, 2013. Sally was born April 8th 1936 to John and Amma Ballard of Flippin Arkansas. The family moved to Washington in 1945 to follow work in the nations then turbulent times.
Sally met Robert Lee Cook, who was at the time a soldier stationed in Korea. Upon his return from the war, the two were married on November 22nd 1958. They lived and loved in Tieton Washington having four boys, Robert Cook Jr, Scott Cook, Randy Cook and David Cook.
Sally was active in the community and church where she taught for many years. Sally touched many lives through her ministry both in the church community and at home. Sally took many people into her home over the years that needed love and shelter from life’s hurts, she did what she could to calm their storms.
Sally had five Grandchildren, Josh Cook, Steve Cook, Joanna Cook, Rachael Cook and Daniel Cook. Rachel and Daniel lost their mother very early in their lives and Sally was instrumental in their lives serving many times as both mother and grandmother, thank you grandma.
Later in life Sally had many accomplishments in starting and running an accredited Day Care center for Irwin Research and became a credentialed counselor helping people through their difficulties.
Sally loved to laugh, visit and travel with her brothers and sisters, Peggy Towel, John Ballard, Ben Ballard and Sharon Parsley, all of whom she proceeded in passing.
As you read this Sally is now free of life’s damages. She is laughing with and loving her Daughter-In-Law Taneis Cook, dreaming and planning heavenly trips with her Mother and Father and basking in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she loved and served her entire life.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Cook Sr. of Tieton; four sons; Robert L. Cook Jr. (Janice) of Tieton, Scott Cook (Cynthia) of Auburn, Randy Cook of Tieton and David Cook (Katherine) of Yakima; four brothers and sisters, Peggy Towell (Marion) of Tieton, John Ballard (Judy) of Wapato, Ben Ballard (Betty) of Yakima and Sharon Parsley (Ken) Austin, TX.
The family would like to thank the many people over the years that helped care for our mother, we would like to especially thank Landmark for not only caring for her, but also caring about her.. Also we will never forget the loving and caring staff at Memorial in how they treated Mom with dignity and honor as she passed from this world to the next. Thank you.
